North Brooklyn Angels runs on the energy, commitment, and generosity of our volunteers. Every week, our 950+ annual volunteers power 15 meal distributions across North Brooklyn. With just two full-time staff members and a handful of dedicated part-timers behind the scenes, volunteers are the engine behind everything we do: the gear delivered to a new parent’s door, the housing application submitted without errors, the neighbor who felt seen. If you’ve ever wondered whether one person showing up makes a difference, it genuinely does.

Volunteer with our Mobile Soup Kitchen Program

Our meal-packing shifts are the heartbeat of North Brooklyn Angels. Monday through Friday and Sunday, volunteers gather in our kitchen to cook, pack, and distribute hundreds of hot meals across North Brooklyn. Each shift runs 2–3 hours and is a great way to meet fellow community members while making an immediate, tangible impact.

To sign up, create an account with Deed, then search for “North Brooklyn Angels” to browse and register for upcoming shifts. Shifts fill up quickly and we often have a waitlist, so we ask that you sign up in advance and let us know at volunteer@northbrooklynangels.org if your plans change.

First time? No experience needed. You’ll be paired with a returning volunteer who’ll show you the ropes. Minors are welcome to volunteer alongside a parent or guardian who has completed at least a few shifts with us first.

Flexible volunteer opportunities

Some of the most essential work at North Brooklyn Angels happens quietly, outside of a scheduled kitchen shift - a weekly bread pickup, a supply run, a task that keeps our operation humming behind the scenes. Over the years, we’ve cultivated a small, dedicated community of volunteers who fill these needs as they arise, often becoming the unsung backbone of what we do.

These opportunities are posted as they come up and filled on a rolling basis - sometimes there’s one, sometimes there are none. If you’re interested in being part of this community, check what’s currently available and reach out directly.

Little Angels Program

Our year-round Little Angels program connects new and expecting parents with donated baby and toddler gear, and it runs entirely on volunteers. Angel Babies

Twice a year, we organize our community around a one-day Angel Babies giveaway event - collecting, sorting, and distributing clothing, toys, books, and essentials to North Brooklyn families, open to all. These events are a wonderful way to get involved if a regular weekly commitment isn’t possible, and they’re a lot of fun.

Live Local

Our newest program is taking shape, and we need the community to help build it. Live Local helps Greenpoint and Williamsburg residents navigate NYC’s HousingConnect lottery and access the affordable housing they’re entitled to.

We’re currently welcoming volunteer Housing Ambassadors, community outreach volunteers, and residents who need help navigating the process.

Corporate & Group Volunteering

We love welcoming teams to our Angel Babies events, where groups can make a real impact helping us organize and staff our twice-yearly community giveaways. At this time, we are not scheduling corporate or group reservations for our Mobile Soup Kitchen shifts, as we prioritize keeping those spots available for individual community volunteers.
